Who are we ?
Sovamat has been launched 3 years ago by ArcelorMittal.
SOVAMAT represents a consortium of material industries and international and multi-disciplinary scientific teams. The material industries represented are:
- ferrous and non-ferrous metals (Steel, Zinc, ...)
- wood, paper, cardboard
- plastics
- composites
- ...
The scientific world includes academics and consultants, working on various tools (LCA, MFA, sociology, anthropology, economics, technological foresight & scenario modeling, ecodesign experts, etc.)
Genesis of SOVAMAT
With the objective of getting fundings from the European Commission in the framework of the FP7 programme, the SOVAMAT members have been working together for 3 years (between 2005 and 2007), met half a dozen of times, and experienced 2 seminars, in La Défense, Paris, as well as 2 SAM conferences (Seville and Nantes) which have produced an unusual collection of very different approaches all pertinent to our central theme of interest.
The Sovamat Initiative now aims at working and exchanging on the related projects and networking through this web site and the SAM conferences.
